Take the poll if you dare!

I've got bloggers constipation so you either need to come down here and give me cod liver oil or fess up with personal stuff so I can ponder then dump.

Methinks I just voted twice...

Paddy in BA (Quickroute) June 19, 2008 3:12 am

Megan: I don't see your vote but then again I haven't used this vote thingy before - It's like the Lisbon vote all over again!

Thriftcriminal June 19, 2008 4:59 am

Differently - I would avoid landing myself with my millstone, everything else I'd try to keep the same as I can't imagine not having my 2 sproggies.

I signed a contract with a company in Holland 2 days before an approach from a company in Sydney, Australia.
7 years later I'm still sitting here in the rain...

I'd also have been a bit more careless with the old rubbers, all things considered.

xbox- I'll take your job in holland! I'd love to live there!!

I wouldn't have shot that man in reno just to watch him die. and I would have learned more languages!

I think the one thing I would have done differently is to travel a lot more when I was young. I was very unadventurous that way. If I had discovered Oz much earlier I would probably have moved there like a shot and not put up with rainy, smug, narrow-minded England for so long.

Thriftcriminal: That's a serious Millstone - thanks for sharing. Wait till the sproggies are teens!

Xbox: I spent three years in Oz. It was great but the grass is always greener somewhere else (except in Oz where it's yellow) but hopefully you get the point.

NomadicMatt: Good point about languages. I never payed attention to Spanish lessons in school - Got a big fat 'F' in my exam. Little did I know back then i'd be living in a spanish speaking country!

Nick: Seems to be a theme starting with people yearning to be somewhere else. Oz has its fair share of narrow-mindness too and Racism is a big problem but yes I'd move back in a heartbeat.

Baino June 19, 2008 4:36 pm

Gawd, I'd have done loads of things differenly. Different career choice, I would have gone to Paris while I was in Europe in 1995 and buggered the credit card!

Take it easy Xbox, it's pouring in Oz and has been for a while! The grass may be greener for the moment but it's bloody soggy! You can come over anytime as long as you're under 45 years old that is!

Paddy in BA (Quickroute) June 19, 2008 4:53 pm

Baino: Different career would be on my list too. I would love to work at something I'm passionate about or have my own business but I sold my soul to the Corporate devil and I just tolerate work to pay the rent!

Martin June 19, 2008 5:37 pm

Matt - It ain't all harsh and whores over here in fairness...

Quickroute - but the space, man, the space...

Paddy in BA (Quickroute) June 19, 2008 5:44 pm

Xbox: Before the pitter patter arrives (and it will!)you should give it a try over there!

Martin June 19, 2008 5:47 pm

Jaysus - the plan now, such as there is one, is to get the pitter patter out of the way, and see what it would be like to get all domesticated over there.

I have a few good years in me yet, immigration wouldn't come down TOO hard on me.

Paddy in BA (Quickroute) June 19, 2008 5:55 pm

Xbox: ah sure the rest of the plane will be delighted to have a wailer with the lungs of Pavarotti on that 20 hour flight! - Why do i always end up sitting beside those people!

Anonymous,  June 19, 2008 6:56 pm

I would learn French as my third language. I would not have giving up the opportunity to do my Masters at Manchester Uni, instead I left for China. A lot of Europeans like this country, but I had a tough time there.

Paddy in BA (Quickroute) June 19, 2008 10:34 pm

Nature Lover: Sounds very brave to me heading off to China at that age - What were the most difficult things to adapt to besides the language?

Martin June 20, 2008 3:21 am

Quickroute - Karma, I reckon...

Anonymous,  June 20, 2008 8:30 am

Besides the language, dealing with the people. Don't get me wrong I had so great times too and a there are plenty of friendly chinese people. However, the majority of Chinese people have a very strange way of thinking about the outside world, just my opinion.

Probably stay in school instead of mitching so much, but then again the craic was mighty!

Paddy in BA (Quickroute) June 20, 2008 11:33 am

Xbox: I thought going to confession would have wiped the slate clean but you're probably right

Nature Lover: I guess they have been cut off and not overly exposed to all things foreign for a long time - state controlled media etc

Roy: I used to mitch and duck down the bookies - no regrets there except I wish I'd won more money!

Queen Goob June 20, 2008 7:49 pm

Wow, this is like two bitchfest in one - Random Chick is having one at her place.

Differently - I would have stayed in school and partied for an extra four years before going out into the world and doing what I wanted to do instead of what I had to do.

xbox - I was one of those ones that didn't get a rubber that night in July of '91....LOL

Anonymous,  June 21, 2008 12:12 am

ok...so knowing then what I know now...I would get a vasectomy at the age of 16...I didn't have any idea that I was unfit for fatherhood until it was much too late....don't get me wrong, I love my kids, just I should have never had any to begin with...I'm a child myself.

Jonah K. Haslap June 21, 2008 1:38 am

I would have installed a lock on my bedroom door shortly after my fifteenth birthday. Without going into too much detail, I had just found my father's porn collection, and my mother came home early from work.

Now if you will excuse me, I have to go make another emergency appointment with my therapist.

Martin June 21, 2008 3:21 am

Queen goob - Brilliant!

Living proof!

Paddy in BA (Quickroute) June 21, 2008 2:25 pm

Queen of Goob: If you'd gone partying then It might have been a rubberless night in July of '87 !

World Travel: Welcome and thanks for stopping by.

"..a vasectomy at the age of 16"

WOW! that would've been a bit too drastic. At least you've got it all out of the way. It's all ahead of me!

Jonah: Hillarious! - I never got caught but there a few very close calls!

Xbox: There's hope for us all!

Queen Goob June 22, 2008 5:37 pm

I had a stash with my in '87....

Paddy in BA (Quickroute) June 23, 2008 2:32 am

Queen of Goob: There's nothing sexier than a woman who brings a rucksack full of condoms to a party!

Queen Goob June 23, 2008 8:07 am

I know.....mine's orange.

I love orange.

And condoms.

LOL
